"Have A Go cruises” are held aboard the Trust’s 70 foot narrowboat Enterprise, starting from our base on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, in Calf Heath near Cannock.
There are 2 types of Have-a-go cruises:
a) For a busy & active day of training & participation, a maximum of 8 able-bodied people can book together as a group. These cruises are specifically designed as an introduction to canal boating for those with little or no boating experience, or those with little experience, but lack confidence to take on hiring or ownership of a narrowboat on their own. Passengers will be instructed in the safe operation of the boat and working of the locks, as well as having mooring and reversing techniques demonstrated.
b) For a more relaxed extended leisure cruise where participation is optional, a group of maximum 12 people can book. Passengers can help with locks or steering if they wish.
1-Are under the direction of a trained skipper and two trained crew members.
2-Involve groups bringing their own food but hot & cold drinks are provided on board.
3-Are usually held on Saturday or Sunday 9-00 am to 5-00 pm from April to October
4-Go to Penkridge and back, which includes working 12 locks
These trips cost £200-00
